Great writeup Carl. Besides Big Brown, I cant wait to see how Denis of Cork runs. He still amazes me how he blew through the field at the Derby. It will be a great race for second!

Keep up the great work!

Big Brown all the way...not that he's Secretariet, but this is a weak year. He's a pearl in a sea of grits, a Pro VI in a bucket of range balls, Peyton Manning in a room full of Ryan Leafs...you get the idea.

I heard you on the radio the other day winterview Gomez and I like what he learned from the Preakness. I'm picking him to place and I'll put $2 on Big Brown and make more money when I sell it on Ebay. Great stuff!

Nice write up....I need to resepctfully disagree however. I think a slower pace will allow horses like Da'Tara and Tale of Ekati to hang around. I say Denis of Cork and Casino Drive off the board and going with a tri key of 1/6,7/6,7.

BB is best, but at 1-5, he's a play against. He's also a son of Boundary, the 7f specialist. Sprinters have proved formidable sires in the Derby over the lst 10 years, but NOT the Belmont. Yes, I'm reaching. Casino playble at 4-1, but not at likely 2-1 or 5-2. Heat may be a factor? Check the horses, decide between Tale of Ek, Zitos, and macho. Dont take less than 20-1. Not a great betting race, so no harm taking flyers.

One of the hardest things to do in sports is win the Triple Crown. Even in a weak year, I don't think Big Brown can pull it off. Certainly not a dominating horse like some of the other big names in the sport's past. I like Casino with BB to come in second by three lengths.

Chris: You were the only one I know of who touted Da' Tara to run well on Saturday. An amazing performance for Zito and Garcia, going wire-to-wire for the win. If you look at his past form, he didn't appear to be a contender, but he certainly looked to be improving going into the race. But, he did finish 28 lengths behind Big Brown at Gulfstream and was soundly beaten by Macho Again in the Derby Trial. Obviously, he liked the longer race. Tale of Ekati was clearly bothered by the heat.

Too bad for Big Brown, but that's why the Triple Crown is such a difficult task for three year olds. On to Saratoga…
